This new maximum security licensed psychiatric State hospital began construction in the Fall of 2001 and was completed in the summer of 2005. The hospital is comprised of 1,148,850 GSF of floor space which includes 850,722 GSF for clinical services and programs, 157,041 GSF for support services, 74,379 GSF for administration, and 66,709 GSF for plant operations.
Additional spaces include a recreation building with gymnasium, patient and visitor meeting area, library services, substance abuse services, church, pharmacy/ central supply, vocational education, art, music, clothing center, and common areas.
This 1,500 bed hospital generates over two thousand jobs and is the area's largest employer.
The facility is considered a secured treatment facility.
